Thinktank at Millennium Point.

Brilliant if you have a range of ages to entertain.  It is a museum and interactive experience over four floors with a Lego section I have never managed to find open, small but good planetarium and an IMAX cinema.  It has a medical themed section with the  slightly freaky character TAM (“Things About Me”), some dinosaurs and stuffed deer… just a LOT of exhibits.

Kids City is the crowning glory of the place if you have under 5’s.  It has a miniature shop, garage, doctors surgery and a huge waterplay area with so many lovely dress up costumes and props it can keep them entertained for hours.

All through the place there’s surprising things to see – planes and trains on the ground floor to astronaughts and robots on the top.  There are a zillion buttons to press and it’s just a great alternative to soft play on a rainy day, my kids have been dozens of times and never tire of it.

There is a reasonably priced cafe at the venue with lunchbox options; the cafes within the Thinktank tend to be shut unless its a weekend or high activity.  Go at times midweek and the place can be deserted. The well stocked shop stocks ranges of lego that you might find have been discontinued elsewhere.

Pros are Kids City, good parking, variety of things to entertain and amuse.

Cons would be the expense if you can’t stretch to the season ticket which is about 80 quid for the year (but recommended if you can).
